Alaska Bowhunting Safety and Bowhunter Education Course
The Today's Bowhunter course on bowhunting safety is the official online course of the National Bowhunter Education Foundation
and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
About This Bowhunter Safety Course
Begin your bowhunter education by studying at home on your computer. Upon successful completion of the bowhunting education course (which is confirmed by taking an online examination) you will be issued a Field Day Qualifier Certificate. This Field Day Qualifier Certificate is necessary to obtain entrance into the final portion of your bow hunter education which takes place with a certified instructor in the field. After completing the Field Day portion, you will then receive your NBEF/IBEP official card of completion.
-
This online course is intended for self-motivated students who have some bowhunting or archery knowledge or experience and are comfortable working on a computer. It is not recommended for students under 10 years of age and we suggest that students under 14 may be better served by attending a traditional classroom course where they receive a traditional form of instruction from certified instructors.
- Completion of the online requirement is only a portion of the required curriculum. You must attend a Field Day and complete any remaining course requirements at that time. This may include a written test that would include Alaska specific material. You will have 365 days from the time you successfully complete the online portion to enroll and complete the Field Day portion of the curriculum.
- The successful completion of this online NBEF/IBEP course is not a substitute for a Basic Hunter Education Card. A number of hunts in Alaska, to include all military lands, do require both a Basic Hunter Education Certificate and a “Weapon Specific” Certificate; e.g., Archery or Muzzleloader.
- For further information about Field Day sign-up and requirements, visit Alaska’s Hunter Information & Training website at www.huntereducation.alaska.gov.
