Arizona Bowhunting Safety and Bowhunter Education Course

The Today's Bowhunter course is the official online bowhunter education course of the National Bowhunter Education Foundation and the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Arizona accepts an independent study method that involves a two-part process:

  1. This online course, completed on your own time and your own schedule, followed by,
  2. A one-day Field Day instruction and skills class led by certified Arizona Game and Fish volunteer bowhunter education instructors.
  • Since classes are limited throughout the state, make sure a field day is available before you complete the exam.

You must be at least 9 years old to complete the course.

Online Bowhunter Education Home Study Steps

  • Study the material in each chapter and complete the chapter review questions.
  • Take the free Practice Test as many times as you like.
  • Complete the Field Day Qualifier Exam for $20.00.
  • Upon passing the Field Day Qualifier Exam, print out your official Arizona Field Day Qualifier Certificate which is accepted by the state as proof of home study.
  • The Arizona Field Day Qualifier Certificate is only valid for 90 days, so you must attend a Field Day within 90 days of passing the exam.
  • Attend a Field Day.
    To register for a Field Day, call the Arizona Game and Fish Department at 623-236-7235 or 623-236-7219.
  • Field Days can fill quickly and completion of this online course does not guarantee you a spot at a Field Day. Students must have their Arizona Field Day Qualifier Certificate before scheduling a field day.

    Again, we recommend that you check to see if a Field Day is available before completing the exam.
