Pennsylvania Bowhunting Safety and Bowhunter Education Course
The Today's Bowhunter course is the official online bowhunter
education course of the National Bowhunter Education Foundation
and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Pennsylvania accepts an independent study method that involves
a two-part process:
- This online course, completed at your own pace, followed by,
- A one-day, eight hour, Field Day instruction and skills class led by certified bowhunter education instructors.
- You can see a list of Field Days before taking the course. However, you may not register for a Field Day until you pass the Field Day Qualifier Exam.
- If you do not want to study online, please telephone the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Hunter-Trapper Education Division at 717-787-7015 (M-F; 8A- 4P) to request a print version of Today's Bowhunter and to register for a Successful Bowhunting class.
You must be at least 11 years old to take the bowhunter education course.
Online Bowhunter Education Home Study Steps
- Study the material in
each chapter and complete the chapter review questions.
- Take a Practice
Test as many times as you likefree of chargeto
ensure you've mastered the course material.
- Take the Field Day Qualifier Exam for $20, collected online. A score of 80% is required for passing the exam.
- Upon passing the Field Day Qualifier Exam, print
out your official NBEF Field Day Qualifier Certificate.
- Register for a Field Day. After passing the exam you will be provided with the information to register for a Field Day online.
- Keep in mind that Field Days with current openings may fill up before you complete your course and exam. Your Field Day Qualifier Certificate is good for 365 days. You must register online. Registration closes for each Field Day seven days prior to its scheduled date, or immediately upon being filled.
