Utah Bowhunting Safety and Bowhunter Education Course
The Today's Bowhunter course is the official online bowhunter
education course of the National Bowhunter Education Foundation
and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. Bowhunter education is currently not required to purchase a bowhunting license in Utah. However, a basic hunter education class is required in Utah if you were born after December 31, 1965.
Utah accepts an independent study method that involves a two-part process:
- This online course, completed on your own time and your
own schedule, followed by,
- Field Day instruction and testing led by certified Utah bowhunter education volunteer instructors.
There is no minimum age to be tested and certified with this online course.
Online Bowhunter Education Home Study Steps
- Study the material in
each chapter and complete the chapter review questions.
- Take the free Practice
Test as many times as you like.
- Take the Field
Day Qualifier Exam for $20.00.
- Upon passing the Field Day Qualifier Exam, print out your official Utah Field Day Qualifier Certificate which is accepted by the state as proof of home study.
- Purchase a Registration Certificate.
Please purchase a Bowhunter Education Registration Certificate ($6) before attending the Field Day class. You may purchase a certificate at any division office, licensed agent, or online at wildlife.utah.gov. You must bring this certificate so that the instructor can officially enroll you in the class.
- Attend a Field Day.
Read about the Field Day requirements and see the schedule online. Students must have their Utah Field Day Qualifier Certificate prior to scheduling a Field Day.
- Field Days can fill quickly and completion of this online course does not guarantee you a spot at a Field Day. Students must successfully complete the Field Day and final examination within 365 days of passing this online course.
