You must pass both the online and Bowhunter Skills and Exam Day portions of the Bowhunter education course in order to complete the Maine Bowhunter education requirements.

Locating and Signing Up for the Bowhunter Skills and Exam Day
After passing the online portion of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife Bowhunter education course, you will need to locate and sign up for the required Bowhunter Skills and Exam Day.

Important! Bring your Bowhunter Education Certificate to the Bowhunter Skills and Exam Day as proof of having completed the online course.
What to Expect at the Bowhunter Skills and Exam Day
This is 6–7 hours, depending on the number of students attending and will include:
- a classroom session
- blood trailing
- distance judging
- demonstrations of tree stand safety
- survival skills
Most of the classroom topics will pertain to Maine-specific regulations and issues that are not covered in this online course. Be sure to have proper clothing for the outdoor sessions. Dress for the weather.
After attending and passing the Bowhunter Skills and Exam Day portion of the Bowhunter education requirement, you will receive your Bowhunter Education Certificate.
