Safety Considerations in the Virgin Islands
Due to the close proximity of roads, homes, livestock, and hiking areas in the VI, hunters must maintain constant awareness of their surroundings.
Never release an arrow unless:
- The target is clearly identified
- The area beyond the target is safe
- You have a clear shooting lane
- No people, animals, roads, or structures are within danger range
Hunters should also:
- Carry sufficient drinking water
- Be prepared for sudden weather changes
- Inform someone of their hunting location
- Carry a basic first-aid kit when hunting remote areas
