Bows

If you are hunting with an expandable broadhead, it is illegal to use or possess:

  • A bow that measures less than 50 pounds pull when hunting elk or…
  • A bow that measures less than 40 pounds pull when hunting any other big game animal.

If you are hunting with a fixed blade broadhead, it is illegal to use or possess:

  • A bow that measures less than 40 pounds pull when hunting elk or…
  • A bow that measures less than 30 pounds pull when hunting any other big game animal.

For compound bows, it is illegal to use or possess a compound bow:

  • That has a let off of more than 80% or…
  • That is shorter than 28 inches as measured from the top of the upper wheel or cam to the bottom of the lower wheel or cam.

Accessories

It is illegal to:

  • Use or possess electronic devices mounted to the bow that aid in the taking of game. However, you may use:
    • Cameras, video cameras, or cell phones used exclusively for photographic purposes and…
    • Lighted sight pins and…
    • Illuminated arrow nocks.
  • Use or possess any type of electronic arrow or electronic string releases.
  • Hunt with crossbows or devices that hold a bow at full or partial draw unless you qualify for and possess a valid crossbow/draw-lock permit.
  • Use or possess a telescopic sight.
  • Use or possess an arrow rest that has more than 3" of continuous contact with the arrow.
