Course Outline

To report a hunting violation, call the South Dakota Turn In Poachers (TIPs) hotline at 1-888-OVERBAG (1-888-683-7224) or contact the local Conservation Officer or Sheriff’s office.

  • Providing as much information as you can about the violation and violator helps the enforcement officers protect wildlife and stop poaching.
  • If possible, record and report the date and time of the violation, the location, the name of the violator (if known), a description of the violator, the species involved, a description of the vehicle, the vehicle’s license plate number, and an explanation of the violation.
  • You may submit a report to TIPs online.
  • If you contact TIPs, you may remain anonymous and may receive a reward if your information leads to the arrest of a violator.
